Terms & Conditions

By making a reservation with Karibbik Haus Hostel, the guest acknowledges and agrees to the following Terms & Conditions. We kindly ask all guests to read them carefully before completing their reservation.

1. RESERVATIONS & MINIMUM STAY

• The minimum stay for standard reservations is two (2) consecutive nights, unless a different minimum stay is indicated for specific dates, promotions, or rate plans.
• Reservations are subject to availability and to the conditions of the rate plan selected at the time of booking.
• The name on the reservation must correspond to one of the guests staying at the property.
• Guests must provide valid identification at check-in.
• The maximum number of guests permitted in each accommodation must be respected.
• Additional persons who are not included in the reservation are not permitted to stay in the accommodation or elsewhere within the hostel.

2. DIRECT BOOKING PAYMENTS & CARD FEE

• Payment conditions depend on the rate plan selected at the time of booking.
• Unless otherwise specified, any outstanding balance must be paid no later than check-in.
• Payments made by credit or debit card are subject to an additional 5% processing fee.
• Karibbik Haus Hostel may verify or pre-authorize the card provided for the reservation when permitted by the applicable booking conditions.
• If a required payment or authorization cannot be completed, the hostel may request an alternative payment method within a specified period.
• Failure to complete a required payment may result in the reservation being considered unconfirmed or cancelled in accordance with the applicable rate conditions.

Bookings made through third-party platforms such as online travel agencies are also subject to the payment, deposit, cancellation, and commission conditions established by the platform and the rate selected by the guest.

3. CANCELLATIONS, MODIFICATIONS & NO-SHOWS

Cancellation and modification conditions depend on the rate plan selected at the time of booking.

Guests should carefully review the cancellation policy displayed before confirming their reservation.

Non-refundable reservations, promotional rates, and other restricted rates may require partial or full payment and may not allow refunds, modifications, or date changes.

Failure to arrive on the scheduled check-in date without prior notification may be considered a no-show and may result in charges according to the conditions of the selected rate.

Reservations made through a third-party booking platform should normally be modified or cancelled through the same platform through which the reservation was originally made.

4. CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT

Check-in: from 3:00 PM (15:00) Check-out: by 11:00 AM (11:00)

Reception is officially open from:

8:00 AM to 10:00 PM (08:00–22:00)

Staff members may be present at the property outside reception hours; however, this does not mean that reception services are available 24 hours a day.

Guests planning to arrive outside regular reception hours must contact the hostel in advance so that arrival instructions can be coordinated.

There is no curfew for registered guests.

5. LATE CHECK-OUT / USE OF FACILITIES AFTER CHECK-OUT

Subject to availability and prior authorization, guests may request access to designated hostel facilities after the regular check-out time.

The service has an additional charge of:

COP 35,000 per person

When available, this service may include:

• Use of designated common areas
• Shared shower facilities
• Kitchen access during permitted hours
• One towel

This service does not include a bed, room, or accommodation and does not extend the original reservation.

Availability must be confirmed with reception.

6. AGE POLICY

Karibbik Haus Hostel accommodates adults only.

Guests under 18 years of age are not accepted.

For shared dormitories, guests must be between 18 and 45 years old.

Guests over 45 years old are welcome to stay in our private accommodation, subject to availability.

The hostel is not suitable for children.

7. SHARED DORMITORIES

Dormitory reservations provide accommodation only for the number of registered guests and beds included in the confirmed reservation.

It is not permitted to:

• Share a dormitory bed between two or more people.
• Add an unregistered person to a dormitory bed.
• Sleep on sofas, hammocks, floors, or other common areas.
• Use sleeping bags instead of the provided bed linen.

Bed linen is included in the accommodation.

8. PRIVATE ROOMS

Private rooms have a maximum occupancy of two (2) registered guests, unless a specific room category explicitly indicates otherwise at the time of booking.

The maximum occupancy cannot be exceeded.

Additional guests or overnight visitors are not permitted.

9. GROUP BOOKINGS

Karibbik Haus Hostel is a small hostel designed primarily for independent travelers and small groups.

We accept a maximum of five (5) people traveling together, unless the hostel has expressly approved a larger group in writing before booking.

Creating multiple separate reservations in an attempt to bypass the group-size restriction does not constitute authorization for a larger group.

If reservations are identified as belonging to an unauthorized group exceeding the permitted size, Karibbik Haus Hostel reserves the right to reject or cancel the reservations in accordance with the applicable booking and rate conditions.

10. STAG, BACHELOR & HEN PARTIES

STAG, BACHELOR, HEN, OR SIMILAR PARTY GROUPS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

Karibbik Haus Hostel is not a party hostel.

Reservations made for these purposes may be refused or cancelled.

If the nature of the group was intentionally concealed during the booking process and becomes evident at arrival or during the stay, the hostel may terminate the stay when necessary to protect the safety, tranquility, and normal operation of the property.

Any applicable charges will be determined according to the reservation conditions and services already provided.

11. QUIET HOURS & RESPECT FOR OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

Karibbik Haus Hostel is located in a residential neighborhood.

Guests must respect other guests, hostel staff, and our neighbors.

Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM (22:00).

During quiet hours, guests must keep conversations, music, electronic devices, and other noise at a reasonable level.

Disruptive, aggressive, threatening, discriminatory, or persistently disrespectful behavior may result in termination of the stay.

12. VISITORS

For security and privacy reasons, outside visitors are not permitted inside the hostel facilities unless expressly authorized by management for an operational reason.

Only registered guests are permitted to access guest accommodation and designated hostel facilities.

Bringing an unauthorized visitor into the property, particularly into bedrooms or dormitories, constitutes a serious violation of hostel rules and may result in termination of the stay.

13. SMOKING

Karibbik Haus Hostel has a no-smoking policy throughout the property.

Smoking is not permitted inside bedrooms, dormitories, bathrooms, kitchens, corridors, or other areas designated as smoke-free.

Guests must follow staff instructions regarding any permitted outdoor smoking area.

14. AIR CONDITIONING

Air conditioning in shared dormitories operates according to the hostel's established schedule and sustainability policy.

The system is configured to maintain a standardized ambient temperature for shared accommodation.

Guests must not manipulate, disconnect, damage, or attempt to modify air-conditioning equipment or controls.

Temperature and operating settings are managed by the hostel.

15. LAUNDRY & WATER CONSERVATION

Guests are not permitted to wash regular clothing inside bedrooms, bathrooms, showers, sinks, or other unauthorized areas of the hostel.

Small beach items such as swimsuits, swimming shorts, and beach accessories may be rinsed only in the designated area indicated by staff.

A laundry service is available for an additional charge.

Please ask reception for information.

As San Andrés is an island with limited natural resources, we kindly ask guests to use water responsibly.

16. LINEN & TOWELS

Bed linen and regular accommodation towels are included.

Beach towels are not included and may be rented for:

COP 10,000 per towel / day

Hostel towels must not be taken to the beach unless specifically provided as beach towels.

Guests may be charged COP 35,000 for towels that are lost or damaged beyond normal use.

17. KEYS & ACCESS

Guests are responsible for any keys or access devices provided during their stay.

Loss of a hostel key may result in a replacement charge of:

COP 25,000

Keys and access devices must not be given to unregistered persons.

18. DAMAGE TO HOSTEL PROPERTY

Guests are responsible for damage caused intentionally or through negligent or improper use of hostel property.

Where damage occurs, the hostel may charge the reasonable cost of cleaning, repair, or replacement according to the item affected and the extent of the damage.

Normal wear and tear is excluded.

Guests should immediately notify reception if they discover existing damage when entering their accommodation.

19. BREAKFAST & KITCHEN

Breakfast is not included, unless explicitly stated otherwise in the selected rate.

Guests may use the shared kitchen during the hours established by the hostel.

Guests are expected to clean utensils and cooking areas after use and follow all posted kitchen rules.

20. PARKING

The hostel does not operate a private parking facility.

Public street parking may be available nearby without reservation; however, spaces are subject to availability and are not guaranteed by Karibbik Haus Hostel.

Vehicles and personal belongings left in public areas remain under the responsibility of their owners.

21. ACCESSIBILITY

Due to the physical characteristics and layout of the building, Karibbik Haus Hostel is currently not wheelchair accessible.

Guests with specific accessibility requirements are encouraged to contact the hostel before booking so that we can provide accurate information regarding the property.

22. PETS

Pets are not allowed, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

23. TAXES

Applicable taxes are included or displayed according to Colombian tax regulations and the guest's eligibility or tax status.

Any tax, exemption, or additional charge applicable to a particular reservation will be determined according to current Colombian regulations and the information provided by the guest.

24. PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Guests are responsible for their personal belongings during their stay.

Lockers are available in shared dormitories for guest use.

Guests are strongly encouraged to secure valuables and not leave money, documents, electronic devices, or other valuable items unattended in common areas.

Karibbik Haus Hostel's responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged property is subject to applicable Colombian law.

25. SAFETY & AIRPORT TRANSPORT

For personal safety, particularly when carrying luggage or traveling during late-night or early-morning hours, we recommend using an authorized transportation service between the airport and the hostel rather than walking.

Reception can provide general transportation information upon request.

26. PERSONAL DATA & PRIVACY

Personal information collected during the reservation, check-in, or stay is processed for legitimate accommodation, operational, security, communication, payment, and legal purposes.

Personal data is handled in accordance with applicable Colombian data-protection legislation and, where applicable to the individual guest or processing activity, relevant international privacy requirements such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

27. HOUSE RULES & TERMINATION OF STAY

By checking in, guests agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions and the hostel's House Rules.

Karibbik Haus Hostel may take reasonable measures, including terminating a guest's stay, in cases involving serious or repeated violations such as:

• Unauthorized visitors
• Violence, threats, harassment, or aggressive behavior
• Serious disturbance of other guests or neighbors
• Intentional damage to hostel property
• Smoking in prohibited areas
• Unauthorized parties or events
• Repeated violation of quiet hours
• Actions that compromise the safety or security of guests, staff, or the property

Any charges following termination of a stay will be determined according to the applicable reservation conditions, services already provided, damages caused, and applicable law.

28. FORCE MAJEURE & CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL

Karibbik Haus Hostel shall not be responsible for interruptions or limitations to services caused by circumstances reasonably beyond its control, including natural events, government measures, island-wide utility interruptions, transportation disruptions, public emergencies, or other force majeure events.

When possible, the hostel will take reasonable measures to minimize the impact on guests.

29. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By completing a reservation and/or checking in at Karibbik Haus Hostel, the guest confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted:

• These Terms & Conditions
• The conditions of the selected rate plan
• The applicable cancellation and payment policy
• The hostel's House Rules
• The hostel's Privacy Policy

Where a reservation is made through a third-party booking platform, the terms and conditions of that platform may also apply.
